So I didn't make it on a Team for the writers Voice. Boo! However I was lucky enough to meet some fantastic writers and get some great advice. So this is a win. With that said I have updated my query and 250 below. Let me know what you think. Good luck to all the teams! Book deals for us all!
Dear Future Agent,
Falling in love can change your life, but falling for your best friend can bring the whole thing down in flames.
Drew Collins always was a bit of a playboy. Life came easy to him, school, sports, and especially women. He rarely had to work hard at anything. So when he gets shot down by a smart ass redhead like Alexandra, he is intrigued. The more he gets to know her the more he is smitten, but Alex has him securely in the friend zone. Having lost her parents the year before in a car crash, Alex was on her own now. A college freshman with no one to lean on for support. Drew changes all of that, becoming the one person she knows she can always count on. Drew’s feelings for Alex continue to grow, and he would do anything to protect her. So he puts his feelings for her aside to become the one thing she needs the most, her best friend. Hoping that one day he will have the chance to be with her.
Years later Alexandra McCabe has a whole new set of issues. On the outside her life seems pretty great. Great apartment, great job, great friends, but one sentence changes it all. “You’re in love with him.” It seems simple, Alex has fallen in love. The problem is the man she has fallen for is her best friend, Drew. To Alex this is a disaster for one simple reason, there is no way that Drew feels the same way. He is a player, never staying with the same woman for long, and Alex couldn’t hold a candle to any of them. Alex is convinced that if Drew finds out how she really feels she will lose him, and with him the only family she has left.
Alex knows, to keep her friendship with Drew, and her life intact, she needs to get her feelings in check. So when an old flame comes back into her life, she devises a plan to get over Drew by getting under someone else. The flaw in her plan is that Drew has a history with this particular flame, and her stubbornness and his attempts to protect her end up driving a wedge between them.
With nothing left to lose, both must decide if they stay friends, become lovers, or end up somewhere in between.
SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN is an Adult Contemporary Romance, told from alternating points of view, six years apart. The full manuscript is complete at 80,000 words, and is available upon request. Thank you for your time and consideration

Chapter 1 Drew (Then)
“Good Morning.”
That high pitched whining sound was like a bullet to the head. Ugh, what is that? I rolled to my side, pulling my pillow over my head to drown out the noise. My head is fuzzy and flashes of memory from last night are mounting a full assault on my brain.
“Good Morning!” she shrieked again slipping her hand up my side. My head was pounding and the squealing coming from the other side of my bed could summon Armageddon.
I was so smashed last night. As if the killer hangover wasn’t my first clue, the blonde in my bed clinched it. I honestly don’t remember making it home let alone into bed with… Shit! What is her name? I tried to remember sifting to the foggy images in my mind but I had nothing. Mandy? No that was the brunette. I turned over to get a look at her hoping it might trigger something, but still I came up empty. She was hot, even with the bed head and mascara smeared across her cheek. I just couldn’t place her.
“Hey” I said doing my best to pretend I remembered…. Damn, I think it begins with a T or maybe an L. I did my best to put my acting skills to work as this whole situation could turn bad really quick.
“Last night was..” She exhaled absently tracing patterns on my chest. I always enjoy compliments on my sexual prowess, but at the moment I was more interested in getting her out of my bed before she caught on to the fact that I had no clue who she was.
Lucky for me, my roommate saved the day by choosing that moment to bang on the door.
